Goodbye Z80

Ars Technica tells us After 48 years, Zilog is killing the classic standalone Z80 microprocessor chip:

Last week, chip manufacturer Zilog announced that after 48 years on the market, its line of standalone DIP (dual inline package) Z80 CPUs is coming to an end, ceasing sales on June 14, 2024.

The Zilog Z80, introduced in 1976 became one of the commonly available CPU for 8-bits micro computers, widely used. Z80 was used into the late 1980s, in the TRS-80, Sinclair ZX and Spectrum, Amstrad CPC and PCW, as well as in the Sega Master System game console, among other things. The list is very long.
