We never agreed to only buy HP ink

Remember how HP printers are a scam?

The Register1 told us in April We never agreed to only buy HP ink, say printer owners:

HP “sought to take advantage of customers’ sunk costs,” printer owners claimed this week in a class action lawsuit against the hardware giant.

Turns out there is a class action about forcing people to use HP ink with a mandatory firmware update. And HP, off course, wants to get away with it. But if you change the contract any further, the customers might not agree. They say that because they do it in plain sight it’s ok. And they want to be printer slumlords… with a subscription.

I still have a made-in-1993 HP LaserJet 4L laser printer. It can still print with my modern Linux laptop, however it needs a good clean, and the toner supply might be in jeopardy, kind of unobtainium. That was the good all days of HP. When they were leaders in product engineering.
