Claude code "leaked"
David Gerard tells us Claude Code codebase is leaked and gives us a summary of what people found:
The leak was 1,900 files with 512,000 lines of code.
Context: Claude Code is one of the popular chatbot fors slopware development (they market this as “AI”, but it definitely isn’t intelligent).
That’s a lot of files and code. It’s all vibe coded according to its “creator” (can they be a creator if it was done by a chatbot?). Also there is still the doubt whether the code created by a chatbot can be copyrighted which should be a teachable moment.
Claude Code is expensive Candy Crush, but it tells you you’re being productive. As it teaches you to forget how to code. Just keep paying Anthropic.
AI slop at its best. And it does very very shady things, that malware authors would be jealous of.
Also from David Gerard, Microsoft AI reshuffle: Mustafa Suleyman goes AI doomsday crank, a little nugget about Microsoft Copilot:
In other news, in the last few days, people have noticed one line in the Microsoft Copilot terms of use, and it’s getting forwarded around. You know that AI that Microsoft desperately wants to sell to everyone? This is what Microsoft thinks of it: [Microsoft, archive]
Copilot is for entertainment purposes only.
So why is there “Copilot for Business”? Why is it supposed to be a tool for productivity?
It seems that Claude Code has the same clause in the UK and in Europe (and only shows it based on geolocation).
I’m old enough to remember games with a “boss key” or “boss button” that when pressed would replace the screen with some productivity tool in case you got caught by your micro manager playing at work. Now they want you to use software for entertainment to work.
“AI” is all a con, and a lot are falling for it. It is dangerous. I can’t wait until it bursts. The blast radius will be huge though, and I’m within it.
