Star Trek Crossover

I watched it for you.

The Verge Paramount Plus dropped its big Star Trek crossover episode early, and it’s a delight:

There might not be any actors or big casting announcements at San Diego Comic-Con this year, but Paramount Plus did find one way to surprise fans. It’s dropping the next episode of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds five days early.

Note: In Canada it’s on our Sci-Fi specialty channel and its associated streaming service, the same that carry HBOMax. We watched on the latter.

We knew about the cross-over for a while, but it was somewhat a surprise drop during Barbenheimer week-end, that I even missed until late Sunday.

The characters from Star Trek: Lower Decks, an animated Star Trek series, cross-over into Star Trek: Strange New World, in live action. The actual actor voicing the cartoon play their characters in live action for the cross-over1. Of course, since ST:LD is around the DS9 timeline and ST:SNW is just before TOS, there is time travel involved. That’s no spoiler.

It was entertaining. ST:SNW is a good Star Trek series by itself, and ST:LD is a comedic animated Star Trek show that is fully self-aware.

  1. With Tawny Newsome as Beckett Mariner I was imagining a cross over with Space Force where she played Angela Ali. ↩︎
