I ran Photoshop on a £0.60 computer chip

I didn’t, but @shortcolin did. I ran Photoshop on a £0.60 computer chip:

I’ve always had a fascination with simpler and low power computing. This lead me to run Photoshop on a 60 pence computer chip and it amazes me that this is possible.

This is more of a testament of how computing in the late 80s was much more efficient… so some extent. That for the price of a coffee and a pastry you get a much better hardware equivalent of a few thousands dollar/pounds back then (id 80s). At the time peak performance was a fraction of the computing power you have in your phone. And in that case there is an emulation layer which slows down.

But how useful can that be? This is before the web. Since, web browser have been a landmark of bloated complexity. Netscape Navigator speed on Mac was a benchmark of your hardware.

For the technically inclined to have fun, there are some details how you can build this setup.
