10 years since Google killed RSS

The Verge reminds us Who killed Google Reader?.

It was 10 years ago that Google Reader was shut down, and this mostly killed RSS. The topic comes back often into conversations when Google does some stupid stuff, like all their April’s fool jokes.

Google tried its best to bury the announcement: it made it the fifth bullet in a series of otherwise mundane updates and published the blog post on the same day Pope Francis was elected to head the Catholic Church.

Google+ failure was the nail on the coffin.

But now that most silos are showing wear and tear, maybe RSS will make a come back?
